This kit is honestly ideal for a total beginner even someone whos never held a crochet hook before. It comes with everything: yarn, hook, stuffing, and the rest of the tools you need.
The real standout is the instruction book. Its extremely detailed, has clear photos, easy explanations for someone new, and even little checkboxes so you can keep track of where you are. Two skeins also come with the magic ring already started, which is a huge help because that technique can be frustrating for beginners. Id absolutely feel confident gifting this to someone who has never crocheted especially an adult who doesnt want to make the typical tiny cute amigurumi animal.
And the humor is the best part. A Booty pillow is such a hilarious, cheeky gift. You learn crochet and end up with a funny conversation piece. Win-win.
I bought this as a fun, unusual crochet gift for a friend, and I was genuinely impressed. The quality is better than expected, and the amount/value of yarn included is really nice for what you pay.
The instructions are easy to understand and include photos showing how each stitch change or design step should look. They also include a link to a video, which is helpful if you learn better by watching. The kit has everything you need: stuffing, yarn needle for weaving ends, scissors, stitch markers/counters its all in there.
The yarn is thick, soft, and should make a really nice finished piece. I also liked that they started the project for you, so you can jump right in without struggling at the beginning. Really fun kit Im definitely going to check if they make more like this.
I wouldnt call this pillow-sized. My hand nearly covers it, and Im a woman, so that says something. Mine finished around 8 inches wide and about 6 inches tall. That said its ridiculously cute and funny. The thong is even a pocket, which cracked me up.
About the kit: you get more supplies than you need for one, but not enough yarn to make a second one. Theres definitely plenty of stuffing left, though. The directions are very easy to follow, and the stitches are simple, which makes it beginner-friendly. The yarn is also strong it didnt break or fall apart even when pulling it tightly. It sheds a little like most chenille yarns, but nothing too crazy.
Also worth mentioning: two skeins come pre-started with magic rings, and the instructions still teach you how to do a magic ring yourself, which I appreciated. I do wish it came out larger (more like the pillow description), but I can always remake it with my own yarn to size it up.
Colors look good overall. I do wish the white yarn had an alternate light skin-tone option for a more realistic look. But the pink? I love it. Its super bright hot pink my phone kept trying to make it look red in pictures. Overall, really solid kit for the price.
Ive been crocheting for years, but I tried to look at this through a beginners eyes. I wouldnt make it someones very first crochet project, but I do think a newer crocheter could handle it because the booklet breaks everything down clearly. The instructions are super step-by-step and explain things well.
I crochet a bit tight, so I probably shouldve sized up the hook, but I used the one provided. That made mine a little smaller and more firm than its probably meant to be still turned out really nice though. I had a full skein of the main yarn left over and also a full bag of stuffing still unused.
They give you plenty of tools too: lots of stitch markers, plus yarn snips included. I also loved that two of the skeins came pre-started with the first round (magic ring area), which is often the trickiest part. That was honestly a smart touch for a kit like this.
I didnt pull anything from my own supplies everything needed was inside the kit. The only downside for me was the snippers. They work fine, but Im not used to that style and pinched my fingers a few times.
End result: adorable, silly, and surprisingly well done. Im obsessed with how it came out!
