In the heart of San Diego, amidst the challenges of a global pandemic, Alexis Johnson—known as Lex—discovered tufting in 2021.  It was a year marked by recovery from a life-altering accident that left Lex in a wheelchair. Seeking solace in creativity, she found inspiration in Sam Lao's YouTube videos.

Tufting soon became more than just a hobby for her—it became a way to express herself and heal. With support from friends and the local creative community, Lex dove into tufting with excitement. After a year of practicing and lots of encouragement, she started 'Rugs To Riches,' turning their love for tufting into a successful business.
